THE AMS HYDROFLEX SELF-CONTAINED PENILE PROSTHESIS
Abstract
- American Medical System introduced a new implantable device, offering the nation's ten million chronically impotent men a treatment option that gives them the prospect of short surgery and better control of erections than current rod devices do. The device, the AMS Hydroflex tmSelf-Contained Penile Prosthesis, was described by clinical investigator Drogo K. Montague, M.D., Cleveland Clinic, as "falling between the prosthetic options currently available." The new device can be implanted more quickly than an inflatable prosthesis, which produces a nearly normal erection, but the Hydroflex tmprovides a more natural erection process than rod implants.
