A Case of Pancreatic Tuberculosis diagnosed by Fine Needle Aspiration
Abstract
-
Tuberculosis of the pancreas is a very rare disorder, and the diagnosis is difficult because of its protean clinical manifestations and non-specific laboratory findings. A 41-year-old female had been suffering from epigastric pain with weight loss. Abdominal ultrasonography and CT scan demonstrated a pancreatic mass with multiple lymphadenopathy mimicking malignancy. Sonography-guided needle aspiration biopsy was performed and pancreatic tuberculosis was confirmed by positive AFB stain and histologic examination. She was successfully treated with antituberculous medications. This is a case report of pancreatic tuberculosis with a review of literature.
