A Case of Anaphylaxis Induced by Red Ginseng

Abstract

55-year-old woman experienced generalized urticaria, angioedema, and hypotension two times with red ginseng tea and boiling one, one of the most popular health-aids in Korea. We confirmed this case by oral challenge with dry power of red ginseng, which showed generalized urticaria, angioedema, dyspnea, and tachycardia. To our knowledge, this is the first case that red ginseng is a new allergen.
