A Case of Allergic Contact Dermatitis to Budesonide in a Nasal Spray

Abstract

Budesonide is a non-halogenareal corticosteroid for topical use and is the butyraldehyde of prednisone acetonide from the chemical point of view. Allergic contact dermatitis to bude-sonide was first described by Hecke & Temm-erman in a psoriatic patient. Five other cases of contact allergy to budesonide in a nasal spray have been published in the literature, up to now. We describe a case of allergic contact dermatitis to budesonide in a nasal spray used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. It was also found that the patient had a cross-sensitivity to triamcinolone acetonide on patch test.
