Clinical Experiences with Pyridinolcarbamate (Anginin) in the Treatment of Atherosclerosis

Abstract

Thirty five patients with atherosclerotic diseases were treated at Seoul National University with pyridinoloarbamate for 1 to 12 weeks (average 30 days) and followings were resulted. 1) The total cases were 7 cases of cerebral vascular accident, 25 cases of coronary heart diseases, and 3 cases of retinopathy. The ratio of male to female was 26 to 9, and the ages were between 32 and 72 years old. 2) The daily effective doses of pyridinolcarbamate in the majority of patients ranged from 750mg to 1500mg. 3) In 77% of the cases, excellent or good effects were resulted and the results would be improved if the duration of treatment is further prolonged. 4) The major unpleasant subjective symptoms during the medication were anorexia, nausea and epigastric discomfort, which were easily controlled with antacid and reduction in dosage except one case.
