Xanthoma-Like AL Amyloidosis in a Patient with Smoldering Multiple Myeloma

Abstract
- Amyloidosis is a disorder characterized by the misfolding and aggregation of autologous fibrillar protein, leading to deposition in various organs. AL amyloidosis is associated with plasma cell dyscrasia. Here, we present a case of xanthoma-like AL amyloidosis in a 58-year-old female with smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) that subsequently progressed to multiple myeloma. This case emphasizes the importance of vigilant monitoring in patients with SMM and skin lesions and highlights the potential progression to more severe hematological disorders.
