Abstract

Ahead of the super-aged era of Korea, the 『Act on Integrated Support for Community Care such as Medical Cure and Nursing Care』 was passed by the 21st National Assembly in 2024. In order to enable ‘aging in place’ such as the elderly, the disabled, and the mentally ill, it is necessary to integrate and establish a link between medical cure, long-term care, and other care services. Organic cooperation between the central and local governments, and the willingness of medical staff, health care professionals, and caregivers to actively participate are important factors to achieving in this goal. This paper introduces the Integrated Care Support Act and aims to take a step closer to Korea's future medicine and patient-centered medical reform incorporating digital healthcare.
