Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is still a challenging issue for interventional cardiologists. Although percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has become a standard of care for patients with AMI, there is a long story of history for AMI management. Initially, only palliative management such as bed rest was the only available method. According to the growing body of understanding AMI pathophysiology, the treatment has also evolved. This review summarizes the history of AMI management, provides an overview of current AMI management, and discusses future perspectives.
