Abstract

Background
The Dual eXcellent Resolution (DXR) is a dual drug-eluting stent characterized by the anti-restenosis effect of paclitaxel and anti-proliferative/anti-thrombotic effects of cilostazol. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DXR stent in real-world coronary interventions in Korean patients.
Methods
An observational study was conducted with 89 patients who underwent DXR stent implantation in 3 Korean centers. We evaluated the major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) over a 1-year follow-up period. And subgroup analysis was done to find out the factors associated with post-procedural angina.
Results
The included patients (male, 74.2%; mean age, 66.4 ± 10.5 years) had hypertension (65%), dyslipidemia (46%), and diabetes (30%) at baseline. Stable angina accounted for 66% and acute coronary syndrome accounted for 34%. During the follow-up, no cardiac death or MACE occurred. Dyslipidemia was the only associated factor of post-procedural angina.
Conclusions
This study showed that the 1-year clinical outcomes of DXR stent implantation were effective and safe in Korean patients. Regardless of hypertension, diabetes, or smoking, DXR stent showed consistent efficacy and stability in Korean patients. However, large randomized comparative trials will be needed to provide deeper insight into its merits.
