Abstract
- Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare and aggressive malignant tumor arising from the epithelium of sebaceous glands. It typically occurs in elderly patients with no sex predilection and almost exclusively affects the head and neck region, especially the periocular area. A 70-year-old female presented with a yellowish-pinkish, protruding nodule on the dorsum of her nose that had persisted for 1 year. A simple excision was initially performed. Histopathological examination revealed multilobular dermal lesions throughout the dermis. Additionally, pseudocapsules containing a mixture of poorly differentiated sebaceous cells and atypical basaloid epithelial cells were observed. Due to these findings, the patient underwent Moh’s micrographic surgery. Fortunately, there was no evidence of recurrence during the 12-month follow-up period. This case report highlights the successful use of Moh’s micrographic surgery to treat sebaceous carcinoma.
