The Diagnostic Dilemma of Follicular Cholangitis Resembling Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma

The hematoxylin and eosin stained sections showed widespread thickening of the bile duct wall due to a transmural infiltration of lymphoid cells, with the formation of hyperplastic lymphoid follicles (A) and significant extension into the surrounding pericholedochal soft tissue (B).

  • Fig. 4 Immunohistochemistry staining. The Immunohistochemistry staining highlighted lymphoid follicles surrounded by CD20-positive B cells (A) and CD3-positive T cells (B), with no evidence of lymphoepithelial lesions.
