Abstract

Appendiceal mucocele is usually discovered incidentally during radiologic or endoscopic evaluation for unrelated complaints. Patients are often asymptomatic or have nonspecific symptoms. On abdominal ultrasound, an appendiceal mucocele usually has the appearance of an ovoid cystic mass. On colonoscopy, it usually appears as a submucosal lesion. We report a case of appendiceal mucocele with normal colonoscopic findings. Abdominal ultrasound was very helpful for the diagnosis in this case. The patient underwent laparoscopic appendectomy successfully.
