Abstract

Coronary artery disease can present with atypical symptoms in young women, necessitating diagnostic tools like coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). However, prior conditions like paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) may complicate the use of such tools. A 46-year-old, premenopausal woman with long-standing hypertension experienced palpitations due to recurrent PSVT. Initial tests were normal, although an electrophysiology study identified atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia. Subsequent CCTA revealed significant stenoses in the left anterior descending and right coronary artery. Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed successfully. CCTA was an important modality for accurate diagnosis in this case because her longstanding hypertension and atypical symptoms were difficult to distinguish from her coexisting PSVT.
