Abstract

Weight loss is a key therapeutic goal of glycemic control in obese diabetic patients. Bariatric surgery is an effective method for weight loss and diabetes remission, but weight regain is not uncommon after surgery. Based on safe blood glucose control before and after bariatric surgery, appropriate dietary management should be implemented to minimize nutritional deficiencies due to changes in the gastrointestinal tract after surgery. Long-term dietary management is necessary to prevent weight regain, and the role of a dietitian is very important.
