Peripheral T Cell Subpopulation in Patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Abstract

To evaluate cellular immunity in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis, peripheral T cell subsets were counted. Pan T cell and T cell subpopulation were observed by using monoclonal antibodies(Leu 1, Leu 2, Leu 3). The results were as follows: 1) Pan T cell, helper T cell and Leu 3/Leu 2 were significantly decreased in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis compared with the normal control group. 2) Suppressor T cell were increased significantly in pulmonary tuberculosis than normal control. 3) There was no significant changes of pan T cell and T cell subpopulation among the patients of the minimal, moderately and far advanced pulmonary tuberculosis. It is suggested that measurement of T cell subpopulation might be explained as one of pathogenesis in pulmonary tuberculosis.
