Clinical Evaluation of Aspoxicillin on Patients with Pneumonia

Abstract

The effectiveness of Aspoxicillin, a new derivative of penicillin, was evaluated in 30 patients with bacterial pneumonia. Causative agents was Streptococcus pneumonia in 18 cases, Hemophilus influenza in 4 cases, Klebsiella pneumonia in 3 cases, Staphylococcus in 2 cases and normal flora in 2 cases. The clinical effectiveness was excellent in patients with pneumococcal pneumonia and although the clinical effectiveness was a little fair in patients with Hemophilus influenza, Klebsiella and Streptococcus pneumonia, in vitro sensitivety test should be needed and in case of staphylococcal pneumonia, the clinical effectiveness was poor. Pruritus was noticed in 6 cases and serum transaminase was elevated in 1 case in the course of treatment.
