A Case of Endobronchial Hamartoma Diagnosed by Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy

Abstract

Pulmonary hamartoma is known as one of the most common benign tumors of the lung. Most of the pulmonary hamartomas are located in the lung parenchyme, but rarely they originate endobron-chially. Most of the endobronchial hamartomas are diagnosed after surgery, because preoperative tissue diagnosis is not easy. But sometimes preoperative diagnosis by fiberoptic bronchoscopic biopsy is possible. And recently 2 cases of endobronchial hamartomas diagnosed preoperatively by bronchoscopy have been reported in Korea. we reported a case of endobronchial hamartoma diagnosed preoperatively by fiberoptic bronchoscopy in 64-year old female patient with a review of the literature.
