A Case of Benign Mesothelioma Associated with Hypoglycemia

Abstract

A 57-year-old woman presented with recurrent severe hypoglycemia and a large mass in the thorax. During prolonged supervised fasting, the blood glucose level was markedly decreased at 2 hours. After reSection of a huge fibrous mesothelioma from right hemithorax, the hypoglycemia resolved, and insulin and IGF-I levels were elevated. We conclude that this patient’s recurrent hypoglycemia was associated with benign mesothelioma.
