Abstract

Agenesis of the terminal segments of the spinal column has been reported as a relatively infrequent occurrence. The etiology of the congenital absence of sacrum is not precisely determined yet. The cases to be presented are examples of congenital absence of the coccyx and certain associated neurological sequelae as well as other skeletal anomalies. The spina bifida was found to involve carely whole vertebrae from cervical spine through thoracic to the lumbar spine in either case. Such a wide spread multiple spina bifida seemed to be very rare as an associated anomaly in the review of the literature. Bilateral clubfoot was corrected by triple arthrodesis in one case.
