Abstract

It has been known that there are many orthopedic procedures for correction of deformity due to cerebral palsy. The choice of treatment, however, for each deformity is as yet controversial among the surgeons. In this paper preaents end result of 18 cases treated surgically among the 56 cerebral palsy patients with various deformities from January. 1956 to July 1966. All cases had been received proper preoperative and post-oprative physiotherapy in sufficient period. The average follow-up period was 5 years and it has been found that the end result of surgicaI treatment was satisfactory in 32 occasions(80%). Certain surgical procedures, such as adductor myotomy with obturator neurectomy for the hip flexion and adductor contracture and Silfverskiold operation for the equinus of the foot in the lower extremity of the spastic type, are considered to be advisable.
