A Clinical Experience of Judet Plate Fixation for Supracondylar - Condylar Fracture of the Femur

Abstract

The following clinical results were showen by analysis 19 cases of supracondylar fracture treated with open reduction and internal fixation with Judet plate in the department of orthopedic surgery, college of medicine, Soonchunhyang university during 3.5 years from August, 1983 to March, 1987. The longest duration of follow-up was 42 months, the shortest one was 6 months, and the average was 23.1 months. 1. The most common csuse of these fracture was traffic accident(84.2%). 2. Anatomical reduction and rigid internal fixation lead to 81.8% of good to excellent results wheress only 25% of good to excellent results were obtained in patients in whom the fixation was not absolutely rigid. 3. The patients with comminuted fracture or osteoporotic frsgments were obtained good results when anatomical reduction and rigid internal fixation was performed.
