Abstract
-
Treatment results of Buerger's disease, which is a known incurable disease, could be improved by increasing blood flow to a peripheral lesion with distraction osteogenesis. Clinical observations and angiography of 33 year-old male with necrosis of 5 toes were studied. By distraction osteogenesis, increment of peripheral blood flow, healing of the necrosis of the toes, and improved clinical symptoms were observed. Distraction osteogenesis using Ilizarov method, is expected to give good treatment results by increasing the peripheral blood flow over an extended period of time.
