Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty of ilio-femoro-popliteal artery

Abstract

Percutaneous trasluminal angioplasty has been safe and effective method in restoring blood flow and relieving symptoms of peripheral arterial stenosis or occlusion. From Aug. 1986, percutaneous trasluminal angioplasty was performed in 7 cases of stenosis or occlusion of ilio-femora-popliteal arteries. Among them, 5 cases were arthroscleroic disease and 2 cases were Buerger's disease. Conclusion was as follows: 1. All of them were male. 2.Age distribution was between 40 to 72. 3. The process was successful in all cases. However, 2 cases were reoccluded, one of them restored blood flow by retrial. 4. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty was considered tobe treatment of choice for peripheral arterial stenosis or occlusion.
