Computed tomography and angiography of hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract

A comparative review of CT and angiographic finding was taken retrospectively from 50 patients with primaryhepatocellular carcinoma. Morphological type of tumor could be classified into 3 group as solitary, multinodular, diffuse. 32 cases (64%) were concordant in tumor type on both CT angiography. Location of tumor were concordant in46 cases (92%) . 4 cases(8%) were discordant in location of tumor; additional finding such as daughter nodule orextended tumor staining on angiography(3 cases), small extent of the tumor vascularity on angiograpy (1 cases). Amajority of tumors showed low density in both pre-contrast CT(4 cases) and post-contrast CT(48 cases), and most ofwhich showed hypervascularity on angiography except 8 cases(avascular). All isodense tumors showedhypervascularity on angiography(pre-contrast CT: 9 cases, post-contrast CT: 2 cases). Evaluation of portal veininvasion were concordant in 30 cases(60%); angiography of 17 cases (34%) showed more reliable finding than CT onportal vein evaluation but majority of cases(46 cases) were concordant on evaluation of resectability.
