A new double contrast barium enema
Abstract
- A new technic of the barium enema was proposed for the better colonic double contrast sutdy with the average 204 ml of 50 w/v barium, applied ot 109 serial patients. The barium was introduced to sigmoid collon, and then pushed to a mid transverse colon by the air insufflation through an enema syringe, a new device. An advance otcecum is accoplished by the air insufflation and/or the position change of hte patient. The barium trasfer method was developed for the best spot film exposure, through colon, by the position change of the patient, the tiltingof the x-ray table and the air insuflation with the enema syringe. The mean angle of the x-ray table tilted was -10 degrees at the beginning the barium enenma till the barium sent past the splenic flexure, -15 degrees for the best lateral view of rectum and -18 degrees for the bet prone PA view of rectosigmoid colon. This was a simple, better and economic double contrast barium enema for the coperative patients.
