Ultrasonographic findings of breast disease

Abstract

The authors analyzed ultrasonographic findings of 60 cases of breast lesions which were proven surgically of pathologically at Seoul Red Cross Hospital from September 1986 to February 1989. The results were as follows; 1. There were 30 fibrocystic diseases, 12 fibroadenoms, 8 carcinomas, 3 abscesses, 3 foreign bodies, 2 gynecomastias, 1 intraductal papilloma, 1 malignant cystosarcoma phylloides. 2. Ultrasonography provided accurate information forthe size, location, internal structure and relaltionship between lesion and adjacent structure. 3. Ultrasonographycan be used as a ajunct to film mammography in selective patients and useful for guiding fine needle aspiration biopsies.
