Rapid spontaneous resolution of an acute subdural hematoma: case report

Abstract

We present a case of acute subdural hematoma which was rapidly resolved without surgical intervention. This 31-year-old man had a hematoma of which thickness was 9mm and was paraplegic due to fracture-dislocation of thoracic spine at the level of T11-12 Rapid recovery of consciousness despite of sizable hematoma made to take aserial CT scanning instead of immediate surgical intervention. The hematoma was resolved within 4 hours without surgery. Possible mechanism of this rapid spontaneous resolution is discussed with brief review of the related literature.
