The radiologic observation of cysticercosis

Abstract

Cysticercosis is infection with the cyst stage of Taenia, which can be observed not so rarely in our country.We observed 15 cases of cysticercosis confirmed pathologically. 3 cases were involved in ventricular system ofbrain, 1 case in spinal cord and 11 cases in subcutaneous and muscular tissues of various part. The major X-rayfindings observed were as follows; 1. Characteristic appearence of calcified cysticerci in soft tissue. 2. Sign of increased intracranial pressure in plain skull. 3. Smooth round mass in ventricular system of brain and its obstructing effect by contrast study. 4. Smooth round intramedullary mass in spinal cord and CSF blockage onmyelogram.
