The cephalic index in Korean adult

Abstract

Through the measurement of skull in roentgenogram in 179 cases of Korean adult, 125 cases in male and 53 casesin female, the breadth, length and height of skull were obtained as follows; Breadth of skull; Male ; 16.9±0.7cmFemale; 16.0±0.7cm Total ; 16.6±0.8cm Length of skull; Male ; 20.4±0.9cm Female ; 19.6±1.0cm Total ;20.2±1.0cm Height of skull ; Male ; 17.9±0.9cm Femal ; 17.2±0.8cm Total ; 17.6±1.0cm The modulus of skull,calculated by means of the above three, is as follows; Male ; 18.4±0.7cm Femal ; 17.6±0.7cm Total ; 18.2±0.8cmThe cephalic index is 82.6±4.6cm in male, 81.8±4.2cm in female and 82.4±5cm in total, which are geater thanother foreigner's results. And because the cephalic indices of 122 cases, 68.1%, of these 179 ases belong to thegroup between 75 and 85, the cephalic index between 75 and 85 can be suggested as normal mesocephalic index, inKorean.
