Unusual Cause of Chest Pain: Spinalcord Infarction: A Case Report

Abstract

Chest pain is one of the chief complaints in the emergency department and has variable causes. Mainly, it is related to a cardiovascular, a pulmonary, or upper gastrointestinal origin, but those cannot explain all of the cases. In rare cases, an atypical cause could induce the symptom. We report the case of a spinal-cord infarction in a 44-year-old female who presented with an initial chief complaint of anterior chest pain radiating to both arm. She also complained of both lower extremities weakness during observation in the emergency department. A case in which a spinal-cord infarction was the cause of central chest pain in a specific situation such as aortic dissection has previously been reported, but this is the first report for a case in which the origin of the spinal-cord infarction was not proven.
