Abstract
- Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is typically diagnosed at the tumoral stage. But it is clinically important to recognize that DFSP often begins as a non-protuberant plaque and occasionally persists as such. Recently the cases of so-called atrophic DFSPs have been reported, and none of these cases are different from classical DFSP in terms of histopathology and prognosis. Better knowledge of the initial appearance is important for making an early diagnosis and for easier surgical treatment. We report a case of non-protuberant DFSP presenting as a pigmented plaque.
