Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) are caused by abnormal communications between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins, which are most commonly congenital in nature. These malformations result in several symptoms such as dyspnea, hemoptysis, cyanosis, and severe neurologic complications. The PAVMs are usually shown as a single or multiple nodules on chest X-ray, but rarely diffuse telangiectatic lesions are found only at the pulmonary angiography with a normal plain chest X-ray. Recently, therapeutic embolization has been advocated as the treatment of choice for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations. We report here a case of diffuse pulmonary arteriovenous malformation, which was detected on the plain chest X-ray with multiple nodules and diagnosed by the chest CT and pulmonary angiography in a 28-year-old woman.
