A Case Report of Distant Metastatic , Recurrent Ovarian Cancer , Markedly Responded to Hexamethylmelamine and Tamoxifen as A Second-line Salvage Chemotherapy
Abstract
-
An advanced, recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer that had metastasized to the liver, spleen and pelvic cavity after secondary debulking surgery and first-line salvage chemotherapy, was treated with hexamethylmelamine [260 mg/m2, orally daily] and tamoxifen [20 mg orally twice daily] as a second-line salvage therapy. After 3 courses of a salvage chemotherapy, the metastatic lesions of the liver and spleen were nearly disappeared and the metastatic pelvic mass was not discovered on the abdomino-pelvic CT. This case represents our experience that hexamethylmelamine and tamoxifen can provide one of the salvage regimens to a selected patient with a advanced, metastatic ovarian cancer.
