A Clinical Study on 115 Cases of Total Vaginal Hysterectomy Except for Uterine Prolapse

This study was attempted to analysis 115 women who underwent total vaginal hysterectomy at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kyunghee University Hospital during the period from November 1993 to December 1996. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. The peak incidence of age distribution was in 36 to 45 years old age group and 53.9% of patients was belonged to that age range. 2. The most common parity was para 2. 3. 51 patients of operated women had previous abdominal operation. 4. Uterine myoma was the most common indication of vaginal hysterectomy and followed by carcinoma in situ. 5. The most common postoperative pathologic finding was uterine myoma and followed by carcinoma in situ and adenomyosis. 6. The average time of vaginal hysterectomy operation was 80.43+/-21.81 min. 7. The mean blood loss was 151.57+/-59.91 ml. 8. The average weight of uterus was 159.74+/-81.15 gm (36~438 gm). 9. The mean hospital days were 5.5 days (4~7).
