A Case of Left Atrial Myxoma

Abstract

Atrial myxoma is a rare intracavitary tumor, and it presents various clinical manifestations mimicking mitral valvular disease. Nowadays common uses of echocardiogram and angiocardiography in preoperative investigation of cardiac diseases as well as profound clinical interest in atrial myxoma results in more cases diagnosed preoperatively. A 45 year old woman was admitted to our hospital because of exertional dyspnea of recent onset. Preoperatively clinical diagnosis of left atrial myxoma was made by echocardiogram and angiocardiography, and successful surgical resection was performed under direct vision using cardiopulmonary bypass. We present a case of left atrial myxoma with a review of literatures.
