Abstract

The formation of a pretibial ganglion cyst after the reconstruction of an anterior cruciate ligament is an uncommon complication which may be a result of the degradation of the biodegradable screw or a variety of other reasons. The authors report a case of a significantly large pretibial cyst, which probably occurred as a result of no treatment over a long period, along with a description of the clinical manifestations and radiologic finding

MeSH Terms

Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Ganglion Cysts
Reconstructive Surgical Procedures

Figure

  • Fig. 1 25-year-old man with pretibial ganglion cyst developed after reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament A. Lateral radiograph of the patient 6yrs after ACL recontruction. Widening of tibial tunnel(black arrowhead) and pretibial soft tissue swelling(white arrow) are seen. B. T2 SPIR MR axial image shows cystic lesion in widened tibial tunnel. C. T2 SPIR MR Sagittal image shows multilobulated cystic lesion in the tibial tunnel with extension to the pretibial space(white arrowhead). D. Intraoperative photograph of pretibial cyst. E. Microscopic finding of the cyst wall shows thick fibrous wall with myxoid degeneration without definite lining cells.
