Abstract

Patients with supra-aortic arterial lesions present with a variety of symptoms including stroke, vertebrobasilar insufficiency and arm claudication. The preferred surgical operations are bypass grafting and endarterectomy, whereas, radiologic interventions are PTA (Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty) and stent placement. PTA and stent placement are safe and efficient on long-term result. I report 5 symptomatic patients of internal carotid artery stenosis (1 patient) and subclavian artery occlusion or stenosis (4 patients) who achieved good results clinically and angiographically after PTA and stent placement.
