Abstract

It is well known that hypercalcemia can cause acute or chronic pancreatitis. The occurrence of pancreatitis induced by hypercalcemia is clinically important because it may be a diagnostic clue for hyperparathyroidism. In this report, we present a case of 29-year-old man who developed chronic pancreatitis due to hypercalcemia caused by parathyroid carcinoma. He underwent surgical resection for parathyroid carcinoma, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, and endoscopic intervention for pancreaticolith.
