Abstract

Progressive inherited retinal arteriolar tortuosity is a congenital disorder which is transmitted in an autosomal dominant pattern. Arterioles in the posterior pole are usually affected and the patient become symptomatic only when he develops spontaneous retinal hemorrhage. There are few reports about this over the world. We experienced a case of 23 years old man who presented with progressive inherited retinal arteriolar tortuosity with spontaneous bilateral macular hemorrhages and decreased visual acuity of his right eye. His mother also showed similar retinal arteriolar tortuosity. To our best knowledge, this is the first report in Korea.
