Abstract

We performed posterior capsulotomy on after catarct(115 eyes) by using Q-switched Nd-YAG laser from August 1986 to August 1987. The results were as follows; 1. There were 11 eyes of congenital cataract, 8 eyes of traumatic cataract and 96 eyes of adult and senile cataract. 2. On perfonning posterior capsulotomy, the power setting of Nd-YAG laser was ranged from 1.6 to 2.5 mJ and the pulse was average of 15. 3. As a result of posterior capsulotomy, Visual Acuity was fairly improved that corrected visual acuity 0.5 or more in 82 eyes(71.3%) out of 115 eyes. 4. Ocular complications after posterior capsulotomy were observed in 12.2% of total, which were transient increase of intraoular pressure, vitreous prolase, cystoid mawla edema, intraocular lens damage, and corneal damage.
