Abstract

Gabapentin is an effective drug for treating postherpetic neuralgia. Its side effects are mild and transient but some serious side effects have been reported. A 66-year-old man suffering from postherpetic neuralgia was managed using a stellate ganglion block and gabapentin. During the management of his postherpetic neuralgia with gabapentin, the patient complained of stuttering. The gabapentin therapy was discontinued, and the patient's stuttering subsided.
