Studies on the Agglutinin - Speci5city of the Rabbit Serogroup Antisera which were Immunized with Enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) Serogroup 025, O26, O55, O103, O104, O111, O145 and O157 Antigens
Abstract
-
In order to produce serogroup-specific diagnostic antisera to most significant EHEC serogroup strains, the authors had investigated the agglutinin-specificity of the rabbit antisera which were immunized with E. coli serogroup 025, 026, 055, 0103, 0104, 0111, 0145 and 0157 which were rather frequently found in clinical laboratory. The homologous agglutinin titers of the crude antisera which were raised with E47a (E. coli 025), H311b (E. coli 026), Su 3912-41 (E. coli 055), H515b (E. coli 0103), H579 (E. coli 0104), Stoke W (E. coli 0111), E1385 (E. coli 0145) and A2 (E. coli O157) ranged 2560X to 5120X. The cross-agglutinin titer of the crude rabbit antiserum which was immunized with E. coli 025 serogroup strain showed 80X to E. coli serogroup 04, 07, 018, 043, 051, 068, 0102, 0128, 0138, 0147 and 0158. However, the cross-agglutinin titer of the rabbit antisera which were immunized with E. coli serogroup 026 and 0103 was not shown over aggutinin 80X. The cross-agglutinin titer of the crude rabbit antiserum which was immunized with Su 3912-41 (E. coli 55) was 80X to E. coli serogroup 08 and 0103. The cross-aggutinin titer of the crude rabbit antiserum which was immunized with H579 (E. coli 104) showed 80X to E. coli serogroup 09 and 0103. The cross-agglutinin titer of the crude antiserum which was immunized with Stoke W (E. coli 0111) showed 80X to E. coli serogroup 043. The cross-agglutinin titer of the crude rabbit antiserum which was immunized with E 1385 (E. coli 0145) showed 80X to E. coli serogroup 02, 08, 019, 043, 0124 and 0157. The cross-agglutinin titer of the crude rabbit antiserum which was immunized with A2 (E coli 0157) showed 80X to E. coli serogroup 07, 0116 and 0126. The most optimal lowest agglutinin titer of these antisera, to eliminate the cross-agglutinin from the crude antisera but to react specifically with homologous E. coli serogroup strains, showed 80X to 160X.
