Abstract
-
Relapsing polychondritis is a rare systemic disorder characterized by recurrent inflammation
of cartilaginous structures, the eye, the audiovestibular and cardiovascular systems. Skin lesions,
found in 17% to 38% of cases, include leukocytoclastic vasculitis, livedo reticularis, erythema nodosum,
erythema multiforme, keratoderma blenorrhagicum, psoriasis, polyarteritis nodosa, thrombophlebitis and
other various conditions. We report a 65-year old man with relapsing polychondritis and associated
thrombophlebitis. The patient was treated with oral dapsone and systemic steroid with complete resolution
of symptoms. However, the patient died of severe intractable pneumonia.
