Abstract

A case of intermittent exophthalmos observed in a 35 year old Korean woman is reported. For 3 years prior to her visit, she had experienced the occasional episode of exophthalmos, eyeache of left eye and headache, when she held her face bended downward for considerable period of time. Visual acuity of the patient was normal, and in her left eye there could be noticed 2mm of exophthalmos with the upright position and 7mm of exophthalmos with compression of the jugular vein, but no bruit or pulsation in the orbit was observed. Skull x-ray series were normal. Orbital venography was refused by her. It was decided that postural and behavior precaution was instructed for prevention of the exophthalmos and no further aggressive regimen was indicated in this case.
