Clinical Observation on Tumor of the Prostate During Recent Ten Years

Abstract

One hundred and nineteen cases of prostatic tumor admitted during the period from Oct. 1958 to Sept. 1968 were studied clinically in the Department of Urology, Seoul National University Hospital and the following results were obtained. 1. The incidence of tumor of the prostate is 5. 47% and an annually increasing tendency was observed, 4.58% in 1965. 5.54% in 1966, 6.67% in 1967 and 8.86% in 1968. Increasing in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia wag remarkable, 3 cases in 1959 and 20 cases in 1968. 2. There were 84 cases of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, 30 cases of carcinoma and 5 cases of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia with carcinoma 3, Age distribution was between 23 and 84 years, mean age being 66.8: 68.7 in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and 61 it carcinoma. 4. Sixty-five cases were treated surgically and the others by palliative measures.
