Abstract

Dermatofibromas normally occur on the extremities of young adults as an indolent, single nodule. They are usually smaller than 1 cm, but can occasionally measure up to 2 to 3 cm in size. Depending on the proportion of fibrous tissue, lipids, and hemosiderin, the nodule color is variable. There are some variants of dermatofibroma; fibrous type, cellular type, aneurysmal type and atypical type. Moreover, a new variant of dermataofibroma was reported in 1986 for the first time. Histologically, this new variant showed nuclear palisading in the central portion of the tumor. We report a 17-year-old male who presented with a pea-sized, brownish, subcutaneous hard nodule on his back, which upon clinical and histopathologic examination showed palisading dermatofibroma.
