Abstract

Simple hepatic cysts are the most common hepatic cystic lesion, which does not require treatment unless symptomatic. The preferred treatment for symptomatic hepatic cysts is alcohol-retention sclerotherapy. Unlike simple hepatic cysts, biliary cystic neoplasm has potential to be malignant transformation, which requires surgical resection. As complicated simple hepatic cysts and biliary cystic neoplasm are often difficult to distinguish, surgical resection may be necessary for diagnosis and treatment. We report two cases of simple hepatic cysts mimicking biliary cystic neoplasm after ultrasound-guided percutaneous alcohol-retention sclerotherapy.
